Almost 10,000 undergraduate degree programmes in Germany make it easy to lose track. Online you find several tools which can help you to make the right choice. Here are the most important ones.

Which degree programme is right for you? - Online self-assessments

Use online self-assessments to evaluate which degree programmes are suited best to your abilities and interests. They are often structured like questionnaires.

You assess yourself regarding your abilities or personality traits and your interest in degree programme or job relevant topics or tasks. Sometimes you also find performance assessments. These consist of tests regarding language, mathematical and logical skills as well as figurative thinking and you have to finish them in a certain time.

After completing the test, the software evaluates, based on your answers and results, which degree programme is suited best for you. You might stumble on degree programmes which have not been in your focus yet or you can re-evaluate if a degree programme is really suitable.

But: The decision is yours! Online self-assessments cannot decide for you, but they can make you take into account new aspects for your decision. And if you come to another conclusion than the online assessment, that is entirely okay. Talk about the results to people who know you like your parents, friends or teachers. The different universities’ student advisors help you to find degree programmes which are suited to your abilities, talents and interests.

Furthermore, you have to answer questions with regard to logical reasoning with numbers and questions concerning language and graphics. Typical situations from university life will presented together with possible courses of action and you have to choose the right one. Afterwards, you will be told which solution is best.

The ability tests give you information about the contents and the requirements of different disciplines. The difficulty of the tasks is similar to what you have to expect in the beginning of your degree programme. Depending on the discipline, the self-assessments cover motivation as well as commitment. Additionally, your mathematical abilities and your reading comprehension are evaluated.
